I don't remember Mother making this. It also comes from Ma Maw. It's written on the back of a Foremost dairy card for new route customers. I don't know when the card dates from, but they didn't give credit to just anybody. To have milk delivered you had to tell them where you worked, your nearest "of kin," the name of your bank and credit references.

Peanut Brittle

1 Cup sugar
1/2 Cup white Karo syrup
1 Cup raw shelled peanuts
Cook all together until
peanuts began to pop, and
syrup turns light tan. Stir,
not beat, with scant
teaspoon of soda and turn
out on greased surface.
